Nginx reverse proxy docs skip "certbot"/Let's Encrypt requirements for HTTPS connections
What is the problem you are facing?
The docs for nginx reverse proxying don't walk you through how to get a Let's Encrypt cert if you're using HTTPS. This results in an error when running nginx -t
. The error says something about the /certs/ path missing (sorry I lost it in my scrollback).
The docs should at least mention that before the user can restart nginx, they need to run certbot or an equivalent to set up certificates.
What are the possible drawbacks or issues with the requested changes?
There are many different ways that people like to run certbot, so it may be challenging to choose one to recommend.
