Resolve "Background playback doesn't work on some Android browsers"

This Merge Request includes:

Since !1291 (merged) didn't solve (at least completely) the issue it was intended to, but, instead, it introduced a new bug (still present in develop), I think we should revert the changes. I mark this as draft as I'm not familiar with the problem that originated issues #1213 (closed) and #1387 (closed), and I may be missing something. OTOH I'm quite confident that the lines reverted caused the issue this MR pretends to fix.
