sharing of whole podcast collections
Today on Matrix, @Lertsenem had the following use case:
I just noticed that the other users from my instance do not get access to the podcasts I subscribed to and need to re-enter their RSS from their account. Is their a way to share them, like for regular music libraries ? Ok, looking around I found out that channels are actually like regular libraries and I can change the privacy setting from the Django admin interface from "Only me" to "Everyone on my instance". It works as expected and podcasts are now visible by everyone (you still need to subscribe to them to have them under the "Channels" tab).
It is a shame the admin has to either let this disabled, or enable this for everyone hosted on their instance. The former makes harder sharing and discovering in the community, while the latter has privacy implications.
To address this, we could for example offer a "privacy" section under the user settings, or offer a share button on the subscriptions page. But maybe we would like to enable sharing of only a subset of podcast subscriptions, and then we would likely end up organizing libraries like for music which sounds a bit overkill (not talking about the deeply unsatisfying state of libraries).
