Include regular german language localization
What is the problem you are facing?
I've deployed an instance of funkwhale and I'm very pleased with the experience it provides in general. However, I'm repelled every time I see the forced "gendered" translations to german, as they are extremely unnatural and it feels like the software, and by an extend the developers, are not respecting me as a human being with an independent mind and thoughts. Given that I'm probably not alone with my opinion, this issue might be alienating numerous other people who would be served well by the software otherwise. I'd prefer not having to fork the project just to correct a few words, and given that free software should philosophically work for us as humans and not try to belittle us like nonfree software would, it'd make sense to include the changes upstream.
What are the possible drawbacks or issues with the requested changes?
It might be hard to include a layered translation, so forking an existing one would probably be appropriate. Given the fact that the localization could be based on the existing one, it should be a neglectible amount of work.
Context
It's enough to look at the start page to immediately get annoyed by the forced translation that dictates how I should express myself.
I really, really hate what comes now, but I've experienced that this will probably prevent you from closing this issue immediately and calling me a sexist: I'm myself a gay man, I do not have any agenda against other people whatsoever, I just hate being told what to think and say.
I know that you have a, even in regards to other projects with such document, very fascist "code of conduct", but even with that document in place it should make sense to include my changes, since all people should be heard and respected according to it. My proposal is not excluding anyone on any basis, it just makes this project even more inclusive to more people who would otherwise stay away from it.
With very kind regards and a hope you remember to self reflect every now and then
